The Coppell Police Department is responsible for providing law enforcement and public safety services to the residents of Coppell. The department’s main duties are enforcement of state and City laws, administration of crime prevention programs, preventative patrol, investigation of traffic accidents and protecting lives and property from criminal activity. The department has three divisions: Patrol division, Investigations division and Support Service division.

The Coppell Police Department is headed by Mac Tristan who is the current chief of police. He was appointed on January 24, 2011. He has over 29 years’ experience working with the Carrollton Police Department and he has been responsible for every Division and Unit of the department during his career. He is helped in his duties by Deputy Chief Chris Aulbaugh, Deputy Chief Jim Cook, Captain Tony Pletcher, Captain Bill Knack and Captain Danny Barton.
